Easiest way to make laptop a wifi hotspot without any software

It’s sometime an obvious need for all of us nerds to turn our laptop wifi into hotspot — i.e to share our laptop Internet connection with another wifi enabled devices, similarly as we do share smartphone Internet using its inbuilt hotspot feature.

If you use Internet in your system using USB dongle/modem or via ethernet cable, it’s not strange for you sometime suffer from a lack of wireless internet sharing. You wish if there’s a way to make laptop a wifi hotspot, so that you can connect your smartphone or tablet with it.

Many PC users download various software to make laptop a wifi hotspot which might contain spyware and adware. So, here I suggest you not to download any such softwares, instead follow the easiest method to make laptop a wifi hotspot without any software, I’m going to tell you now.

This method requires the wifi in your laptop and turns it into a hotspot. So, make sure wifi is turned on in your laptop.

Here’s how you can make laptop a wifi hotspot :

  1. Open notepad, copy the below command and paste in it
    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=technotraps key=technotraps
    netsh wlan start hostednetwork


  2. Save the notepad file in .bat format, i.e hotspot.bat
  3. Right click on “hotspot.bat” and click Run as administrator
  4. Wait for a while to complete the process
  5. Now Open Network and Sharing Center
  6. Click on Internet connection you want to share with newly created hotspot
  7. Configure sharing by clicking: Properties -> Sharing (tab) -> (check) Allow other network users to connect -> (select) Wireless network connection 2 -> ok

  8. That’s it. Now check in your smartphone or any wifi device, you will find a wifi network named “technotraps”
  9. Connect with it using password “technotraps
